Product Information

CURT rear receiver hitches are made in the USA and engineered to custom fit your vehicle. Featuring precise welds for superior strength, our receiver hitches are safety tested and finished with a durable, high-gloss black powder coat finish.

CURT receiver hitches come in five classes which are designed for different weight capabilities. Our class 1 hitches feature a 1-1/4" receiver tube and are made for lightweight towing of up to 2,000 lbs. gross trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight.

CURT class 2 trailer hitches can tow up to 3,500 lbs. and a higher tongue capacity of 525 lbs., making class 2 hitches a great choice for most passenger vehicles with 1-1/4" receiver tube openings.

CURT class 3 trailer hitch receivers feature a larger, standard 2" receiver size and a higher towing capacity of up to 10,000 lbs., which enables you to tow a variety of larger trailers. The class 3 hitch is the most commonly used receiver, rated vehicles capable of 1,000 lbs. tongue weight.

For even heavier loads, the class 4 trailer hitch receiver is rated for up to 14,000 lbs. and features a tongue weight capacity of 1,400 lbs. when paired with a weight-distributing hitch, making it a prime candidate for towing large, heavy trailers with 2" receiver tubes.

If towing extra-heavy or commercial loads, the CURT class 5 hitch receiver is rated for up to 17,000 lbs. and has a tongue weight of up to 2,550 lbs. when used with a weight distributing hitch. Designed use with 3/4-ton and 1-ton pickup trucks and SUVs, these hitches are capable of pulling almost any trailer including livestock trailers, RVs, large boat trailers, double-axle utility trailers and toy haulers.

Class 3 trailer hitches are perfect for towing fishing boat trailers, popup campers, ATV trailers, utility trailers and much more. They are also ideal for adding storage space to your vehicle with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier or bike rack (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component).

Each CURT class 3 hitch is engineered to fit on a specific vehicle. This provides the best possible fit and easiest installation. This particular custom class 3 hitch fits specific years of the Ford Escape (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide or use the Vehicle Lookup tool). It is designed to integrate with the vehicle's existing features and offer a reliable connection to your trailer.

This Ford Escape hitch is stringently tested in accordance with SAE J684 to ensure a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. gross trailer weight and 350 lbs. tongue weight. It is compatible with a weight distribution hitch to provide more stable towing and a weight distribution rating of 5,000 lbs. WD and 500 lbs. WDTW. From class 1 to class 5, all CURT custom-fit receiver hitches are made in the USA to ensure quality from design to finish (may include imported hardware). They are designed with hands-on engineering for a precise fit. They are welded using a combination of manual and robotic operations for speed and accuracy. Finally, they are finished with our unique co-curing process. Each hitch is dipped in a liquid A-coat for rust prevention, inside and out, and then co-cured in a durable black powder coat finish for maximum rust, chip and UV resistance.

Every CURT custom hitch design is thoroughly tested at our in-house testing facility in Detroit, MI. We adhere to the proposed SAE J684 testing protocols to make sure that the hitch you mount on your vehicle will be a dependable means to enjoy your lifestyle.

CURT

What makes CURT hitches unique?

Whether you are towing 20,000 lbs. of industrial machinery or just taking the family out for a weekend camping trip, CURT has the perfect hitch for the job. We manufacture over 1,000 different hitch models to provide a custom fit for nearly every make and model on the road today.

Each CURT custom hitch is engineered, fabricated and welded in the USA, protected by an industry-leading co-cured finish -- inside and out -- and tested for safety in accordance with SAE J684.

CURT

Industry-leading finish

A trailer hitch takes a great deal of punishment, being mounted under your vehicle, particularly from water, road salt and debris. This ultimately leads to rust and reduced functionality of the hitch over time.

To address this problem, every CURT hitch undergoes an industry-leading co-cured finishing process to ensure maximum protection against rust, scratches and chipping. Our hitches travel a total distance of 2,300 feet over the span of four hours to apply this superior finish.

CURT

Tested in-house for safety

With a dedicated engineering facility, located in the heart of the automotive industry, each CURT hitch is rigorously tested to SAE J684. This ensures the safety and reliability of each hitch design.

In-house testing also gives us the unique opportunity for advancing towing safety standards. We are continuously striving for higher standards through on-vehicle testing, innovative processes and advancements in technology.
